The Orcas Wine Co. Story
Our Roots
With a lineage of wine enthusiasts and skilled winemakers, including my father, uncles, grandfather, and even a great-grandmother with a clandestine flair for defying prohibition, my wine-making journey started long before I ever planted the first vine on my Orcas Island property in 2005.
Intrigued by the art of winemaking, I began experimenting with my small vineyard. As my knowledge of wine grew, so did my appreciation for the fine wines emerging from the vineyards across Washington. In 2013, I took the plunge and purchased my first grapes from an Eastern Washington vineyard.
Our Tradition
Guided by my father, we crafted our inaugural Bordeaux blend, and Orcas Wine Co. was born. Local artist Susie Shipman brought our vision to life with her original artwork for the label.
Fun fact: Orcas Wine Co. had a past life in the late '90s. We resurrected the name to honor its history.
In 2015, Orcas Wine Co. made its way to Walla Walla. Crafting our wine in a family friend's facility, we forged lasting relationships with exceptional vineyards and esteemed winemakers in the industry.
Our Homecoming
Year by year, our winemaking journey welcomed more members of the family into the fold. From my son and sisters to my brother-in-law and niece, harvests evolved into a cherished family tradition. By 2022, we moved production back to Orcas Island.
Since then, we've soaked in the growth of the Orcas Wine Co. family and reveled in the range of high-quality wines we're honored to create and enjoy together. Salut and Grazie from our family to yours!
Generations of hard work lead to world-class products.
